At Thanksgiving, Luke & Alexa Godwin of Godwin Motors, pictured above with The Cooperative Ministry's Scott Vaughan, donated four used cars to be given to qualifying clients in need of transportation to work. Top right, the cars are given to clients at a ceremony in The Cooperative Ministry's parking lot. Recipients included Shannon Keiser, manager of a local restaurant; Dwayne Burge, a CNA with the state Department of Mental Health; Marilyn Lewis, a housekeeper assigned to the University of South Carolina; and, customer service rep Shetonna Wilson. Pictured right is Shannon Keiser, left, with The Cooperative Ministry's Chief Executive Officer, Beth Irick. Car recipients of The Cooperative Ministry have qualified for a car by demonstrating the need for transportation to work, and the financial ability to support a car within the family’s budget. Past car recipients have reminded us how critical transportation is to everyday life, saving time and money, improving job possibilities, and allowing for educational opportunities. Godwin Motors is pleased to partner with The Cooperative Ministries Autos for Opportunities program for a portion of our charitable giving in 2018. Godwin Motors' goal is to donate (6) vehicles for the AFO program. We will also serve as co-host of The Cooperative Ministries financial sustainability class on Sat, April 28th, 2018. This class is free to the public. Since 1982, The Cooperative Ministries mission has been to increase the economic self-sufficiency of people experiencing poverty in the Midlands through crisis assistance and sustainability programs.
Instead of trading your used vehicle, or going through the hassle of selling it yourself, consider Autos for Opportunities and forever change the life of someone in need. Your donated vehicle can be someone’s transportation to work or used to provide financial support for The Cooperative Ministry programs and services. When you donate, you may qualify for a tax write-off and pick up is free. To donate call 803-799-3853
Suitable vehicles will help a hard working individual right here in the Midlands, providing safe and reliable transportation for work; all other vehicles are sold at auction and proceeds will fund other programs and services of The Cooperative Ministry.
Car Donations are given to Richland and Lexington residents who are currently employed and need transportation to get to their jobs. If you are currently walking or using public transportation to get to work, to see if you qualify to be considered for their waiting list go to coopmin.org/how-we-help/c-a-r-community-auto-repository
